Escola Secundária de Camões

Camões secondary school is a staple of Portuguese secondary education. It is one of the oldest secondary schools in Portugal, and one of the most iconic for sure. The over-a-century-old building is, as of now, under construction and reparation, to make a transition from an old space to a more modern and restored one, while preserving the charm of its early-20th-century architecture. Its Façade is faced to a garden, where students are usually found mingling, and it is located in a very central spot: it is just a few minutes away from the subway and is very close to a lot of iconic squares in Lisbon, such as Saldanha, and Marquês de Pombal, both major commercial and social hubs.
The school presents a diverse curriculum, with sciences, arts, humanities, economy, and some vocational courses. The students themselves are very diverse as well making the school very multicultural and students come from a vast array of different backgrounds. Because of this, the teachers are very in tune with the vibrant students, and, in general there is a great learning environment. That is why Camões secondary school is known for its defense of values of equality and inclusivity and as one of the most prestigious schools in Lisbon.
